The TytoHome Stethoscope is used to capture high-quality heart and lung sounds, as well as measure heart rate. Proper placement and environment are key to a successful exam.

Setup & Hygiene

Connect the Stethoscope to the TytoCare device by aligning the blue dots.

Cleaning: Before each use, wipe the black membrane with 70% Isopropyl alcohol and allow it to air dry for two minutes.

Performing Heart and Lung Exams

The app will guide you through specific points (4 for Heart, 8 for Lungs). To ensure accuracy:

  • Positioning: Confirm the patient's right arm first to help the software orient the measurement points.
  • Placement: Place the stethoscope firmly and parallel to the skin. It is best used on bare skin or very thin clothing.
  • Breathing: For lung exams, the patient should breathe deeply and slowly through the mouth while sitting upright.
  • Sequence: For lung exams, the software will guide you through the back points first, followed by the front.

Understanding Signal Strength & Interference

Monitor the signal bar on the screen. Keep the bar high and green for the best recording quality.

If you receive an alert, adjust based on the prompt:

  • Speech Interference: Ensure the room is silent and the patient is not speaking.
  • Improve Placement: Ensure the entire membrane is in full contact with the body.
  • Reduce Pressure: Do not press the device too hard against the chest.

Heart Rate Exam

Place the stethoscope on the sternum (middle of the chest) as shown on the screen. Remain silent for the 20-second duration to capture an accurate reading.

Completing the Exam

Once all points are captured (labeled with a green check), tap DONE. You can then select other exams or tap SUBMIT ALL to send the data to the TytoCare App for clinician review.
